Eisenberg Pitman tries to encourage audiences to sit with the negative space in her images, allowing you to linger more in the silence, slowing people down. What does it mean to stare and not to be fully manipulated into an emotional response? Absence is as important as presence. The negative space between each cut out, hold as much visual weight as what’s actually there. Scrubbing away information, perhaps we become more visually sensitive when we sit in the in-between. Consider these “half worlds" as places for exploration and transformation.
